“The Tarot Trumps”

This is the equilibrium not of the balance of Libra but of the impetus of the Arrow, Sagittarius, which cleaves its way through the air by the force imparted to it by the taut string of the Bow. It requires the counterchanged forces of Fire and Water, Shin and Qoph, held by the restraining power of Saturn, and concentrated by the energies of Mars to initiate this impetus. All these are summed up in the symbolism of the figure standing between Earth and Water, holding the two amphorae with their streams of living water, and with the volcano in the background. The colours are bright-blue, blue-grey, slate-blue, and lilac-grey.

A winged angel, with the sign of the sun upon his forehead and on his breast the square and triangle of the septenary. I speak of him in the masculine sense, but the figure is neither male nor female. It is held to be pouring the essences of life from chalice to chalice. It has one foot upon the earth and one upon waters, thus illustrating the nature of the essences. A direct path goes up to certain heights on the verge of the horizon, and above there is a great light, through which a crown is seen vaguely. Hereof is some part of the Secret of Eternal Life, as it is possible to man in his incarnation. All the conventional emblems are renounced herein.

So also are the conventional meanings, which refer to changes in the seasons, perpetual movement of life and even the combination of ideas. It is, moreover, untrue to say that the figure symbolizes the genius of the sun, though it is the analogy of solar light, realized in the third part of our human triplicity. It is called Temperance fantastically, because, when the rule of it obtains in our consciousness, it tempers, combines and harmonises the psychic and material natures. Under that rule we know in our rational part something of whence we came and whither we are going.

メルカリの受取評価

数年前からメルカリで販売を主体に取り引きしている。今までのところさしたトラブルもなく昨年（2020 年）暮れに取引数 100 回を突破した。 英検 2 級のテキストを年末に出品したところ、年明けの 1 月 3 日に購入され翌日発送した。商品がいつ到着したかは正確には定かでないが、コンビニで発送したときにもらったレシートにはお届け予定日 2021 月 1 月 4 日とあり、速やかに到着したことは確かだった。 その後受取評価もコメントメッセージも何もないままに時が過ぎ去りちょっと気になってきたので、 1 月 9 日にカードを引いてみたら V. 司祭長 が出た。 手前の二人が私と購入者で、司祭長（メルカリ）が間に入って仲介している現在の様子が出ている。 取引中画面では、「規定の日数に達したため、購入者へ受取評価をするよう通知をしました。下記日時を過ぎた場合、事務局により自動的に取引を完了します。※取引に問題がない場合 2021 年 1 月 12 日 13:00」となっている。 1 月 11 日に購入者からお詫びのメッセージと受取評価が来た。 ということで司祭長（メルカリ）の支援によってつつがなく終了。これがもし私と購入者の間だけの個人取り引きだったらどうなったかとかいろいろ考えると、司祭長（メルカリ）のもとで取り引きすることの有り難さを感じさせる出来事だった。

岡村隆史 失言と結婚

NHK「チコちゃんに叱られる！」でも活躍中のお笑い芸人ナインティナインの岡村隆史がコロナ禍の最中に ラジオで女性蔑視的な失言をした のは、2020 年 4 月 23 日のことだった。 岡村さんは四月二十三日深夜の生放送で、「コロナが終息したら絶対面白いことあるんですよ。美人さんがお嬢（風俗嬢）やります。短時間でお金を稼がないと苦しいですから」などと発言。これに対し「性的搾取を待ちわびている」「女性蔑視だ」などと批判が集中した。 あまりニュースに関心のない私は 7 月 25 日にその記事がふと目に止まり興味が湧いて、この事件のシチュエーションを表すカードは何かと思い 1 枚引いたところ 杖の 4 だった。 杖の 4 は仕事もプライベートも充実している様を表している。ひと仕事をこなした後には、めでたいゴールで親しい人々と合流して存分に休暇を楽しむという感じである。 「ただし彼の場合、逆位置だったため（仕事中の）太鼓橋の上でコケてしまった。充実した気分が裏目に出て一段とハイになり、あのような軽はずみなことを口走ってしまった」──と、当時（2020-07-25）は解釈した。 しかしその後 10 月 22 日に「同じラジオ放送で岡村隆史が結婚を発表した」というニュースを耳にした。「ああ、本当はめでたいゴール（杖の 4）が待っていたということを意味するカードだったのか」と今にして言える。 すなわち、逆位置は、失言事件によって本来予定されていた結婚にケチがつき、一時的に延期等になってしまったようなことを意味していたのだろう。 起きた出来事に対して質問しただけだからと、カードの告げる未来にまで意識を広げなかったという反省事例に。

『グランド・イリュージョン 』

2013 年のアメリカ映画『 グランド・イリュージョン 』（原題 “ Now You See Me ”）は、 フォー・ホースメン と呼ばれる 4 人組のマジシャンがショーの中で銀行強盗をする映画だ。 4 人はアイ（The Eye）と呼ばれる人物から、タロットカードの招待状を受け取り集められるのだが、4 人はそれぞれ各自に相応しいカードを受け取る。 ダニエル・アトラスは、コントロール・フリークと呼ばれたりして、高慢な奇術師で、ストリート・マジシャン。表向きのホースメンのリーダー。彼は「 恋人たち 」を受け取る。 メリット・マッキーニーは、催眠術師、メンタリスト、自称超能力者。若いときはもっと有名だったが、マネージャーだった兄に稼いだ全財産を持ち逃げされ、その後は過去の栄光を背負って細々と行脚する生活をしている。彼は「 隠者 」と受け取る。 ヘンリー・リーブスは、エスケイプニスト（脱出術）、ステージ・マジシャン、ダニエル・アトラスの元アシスタント。ダニーに密かに思いを寄せている。彼女は「 女司祭長 」を受け取る。 ジャック・ワイルダーは、手先の器用な奇術師、ストリート・マジシャン。他人の声音を真似る才能もある。またスリでもあり、錠をこじ開けることができる。彼は「 死 」を受け取る。 アイは「 愚者 」として描かれ、最後に誰なのか判明する。 タロット好きにとっては、より面白く観れる映画かも知れない。 また、アメリカ映画となっているが、フランス人監督の作品なので、その変も一味違う感じで良い。
